The Museum of Humor of San Antonio de los Baños, founded in 1979, is located in Artemisa, Cuba and houses important works related to Cuba's exquisite humorous tradition from colonial times to the present day.
Located in a beautiful colonial house, it has a splendid neoclassical style typical of the 19th century that is manifested in its gray marble floors, the high windows with iron grills and a luminous courtyard in the interior. In fact, in 1980 it was declared a Local Monument both for its historical and architectural values.
This museum is unique in all Cuba, and in it you will find 6 transitory rooms where you will enjoy humorous works of all kinds: satirical works, political humor and costumbrista, and personal caricatures, with different techniques and supports. You will be able to discover works by outstanding artists such as Jaime Valls Díaz, Rafael Blanco and Santiago Armada. The Cuban Carlos Julio Villar Alemán and his amusing caricatures, who was also a member of the UNEAC (Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba), stand out.
Cuba's Museum of Humor is internationally known thanks to the International Humor Biennial Festival, an event of Graphic Humorism that takes place every two years and in which well-known artists from all over the world participate. It is a competition between different genres of humor, and also serves to enrich and expand the museum's collection.
