Cayo Santa María is located in the Jardines del Rey archipelago. The 21 Km2 island welcomes visitors with its fine white sand beaches and warm turquoise waters. It is these same qualities that make the key worthy of its nickname: the “Rosa Blanca de los Jardines del Rey” (“White Rose of the King’s Gardens”).
Visitors can find some of Cuba’s most treasured and increasingly-popular beaches in Cayo Santa María. Some of which include the Playa Perla Blanca (Perla Blanca Beach), the Playa de Los Delfines (Los Delfines Beach) and the Playa Las Gaviotas (Gaviotas Beach).
Many visitors choose to snorkel in these oceans because of its rich marine life: colorful fish, starfish and dolphins are just a few of creatures you might find yourself in an encounter with.
And for those looking to disconnect and relax, the key’s beaches are the perfect refuge. The nearby hotels will cater to every visitor’s needs during their trip to Cayo Santa María.
Cayo Santa María is the perfect destination for those looking to escape the busy and hectic environments of other tourist attractions across Cuba, like that of Varadero. Visitors can rest peacefully, get some sand between their toes, and dice into crystal-clear water in search of colorful fish and coral reefs all in the keys.
Visitors cannot miss out on the Crucero del Sol (Sun Cruise), which departs from the Cayo Las Brujas (Las Brujas Keys). The Crucero del Sol’s departing point is easy to access for any visitor thanks to the Pedraplén (Cayo Santa María Road). The catamaran crosses the northern key’s beautiful crystal-clear waters and allows you to take in the view of its stunning landscapes.
Cayo Santa María is also an ideal place to go snorkeling because of its rich coral reefs. You’ll come into close encounters with colorful fish, starfish, and dolphins by the shore. The keys are also home to a dolphin center where visitors can swim with these tender creatures.
The only type of available accommodation is all-inclusive resorts. Cayo Santa María, Cayo Ensenachos (Ensenachos Keys) and Cayo Las Brujas (Las Brujas Keys) all offer excellent all-inclusive resorts the size of Meliá and Iberostar. Their luxurious facilities, heavenly beaches, crystal-clear waters, and white sand make them perfect for any holiday.
The accommodations that stand out the most are the Hotel Be Live Collection in Cayo Santa María as well as the Memories Paraiso and the Meliá Las Dunas.
However, the Grand Memories Cayo Santa María, Meliá Cayo Santa María, Paradisus Los Cayos and the Meliá Buenavista are better accommodated for families.
Hotels that offer fabulous services and amenities include the Sol Cayo Santa María, Starfish Cayo Santa María, and the five-star Lagunas del Este. If you’re looking for something closed to the Playa Las Gaviotas (Las Gaviotas Beach), try the Valentin Perla Resort. For something more modern, check out the ROC Lagunas del Mar resort.
Cayo Santa María, is accessible by car. Visitors can cross over the 48 km Pedraplén, which connects the city of Caibarién, on the main island, to the keys. Crossing over the bahía de Buenavista (Buenavista Bay) beautiful waters will feel like a fantasy. All you’ll need to do to enjoy the spectacular landscape views of Cayo Ensenachos and Cayo Las Brujas is look out your window and, before you know it, you’ll be in Cayo Santa María, a piece of paradise.

However, others choose to fly into the Aeropuerto de Abel Santamaría (Abel Santamaría Airport), located in Santa Clara, and then take the 2 hour drive to Cayo Santa María.
