The José Rafael Lauzán Municipal Museum, also known as the San Antonio de los Baños Municipal History Museum, is one of the greatest sources of cultural dissemination in the province of Artemisa due to its historical value. The valuable elements that compose it will show you the fascinating history of the municipality.

Divided into 8 different exhibition halls, in this museum you will find important objects of historical value related to the cultural and artistic development of the area, from photographs, artistic works and ancient documents to archeological pieces that will transport you to another era. Particularly noteworthy are the impressive modernist works of Eduardo Abela, an important local artist and painter, who was awarded the National Painting Prize in 1947.

Founded in 1980, the José Rafael Lauzán Municipal Museum reflects the architectural characteristics of colonialism typical of the 20th century. Thus, you will find elements such as the hard iron grilles typical of the doors and high windows, a luminous interior patio and the characteristic thick walls. It owes its name to José Rafael Lauzán, who was the historian of the town for more than 60 years; it is a tribute that will make his name last forever in the history of Artemisa.

Nowadays you can enjoy the different historical-cultural activities that take place inside the museum, where they connect leisure and local culture. You will be able to attend different conferences, lectures and contests in order to connect even more with the place. Relevant figures are also highlighted with spectacular tributes. Some of these activities are: the Tango Club (once a month), the Noche Campesina, the Ateneo del Ariguanabo (weekly), the Movie Night Ariguanabense and exhibitions of professional artists.
