The functions of customs in Cuba are various, such as the protection of Cuban citizens, Cuban industry and the environment. There may be customs controls at any point that serves as an entry or exit to Cuba, either by air, such as airports, or by sea, such as ports.
At the time of your entry into Cuba, customs will require several requirements, which are:
Health insurance policy.
Passport with at least six months of validity before its expiration.
Visa or tourist card issued less than 60 days before the trip.
Return ticket to your country of origin or another country.
A lodging address.
At the time of your entry into Cuba, you will be allowed to enter the country with your personal effects, as well as your clothes, computer, mobile phone, sports equipment ... You will also be allowed to enter gifts up to the value of 1287 CUP, however the rest of the articles are subject to a customs tax, the maximum of which is 25,750 CUP.
The items that are prohibited and will be seized upon your entry to Cuba are items such as: drugs, narcotics, weapons, pornography of any kind, and any object that could endanger the physical integrity of Cuban citizens.
You must make a declaration at customs whenever you carry items that you decide to import to Cuba permanently, in this case you must fill out a Customs Declaration for travelers. In case you decide to enter the country with an amount of money greater than 5000 USD, or its similar in another currency, you must also make the Customs Declaration.
At the time of your departure from Cuba you can export the following items without any problem:
A box of cigars, up to 50, tax free.
$ 5,000 in cash.
A maximum of three bottles of liquor.
A maximum of 200 cigarettes.
There are articles such as works of art which are linked to the island's cultural heritage and without the relevant documentation you will not be able to leave the country.
