The flag of Cuba, created in 1849 by the military officer Narciso López, is one of the official symbols of the country. It was created in New York and officially accepted by Cuba in 1902.
It is also known as the lone star flag because of the star on the left. It is made up of three colors: blue, white and red, the color red forming a triangle and horizontal stripes the colors white and blue.
The flag is made up of three blue stripes, which represent the three departments into which the island was divided at that time, and the two white stripes, which represent the entire Cuban people.
The red triangle located on the left side of the flag symbolizes all the blood of the Cuban people shed during the wars of independence, although it not only has this meaning, since its three points also represent equality, freedom and brotherhood.
Finally, the five-pointed star inside the triangle represents the total freedom of all peoples.
