The Lago Azul (Blue Lake), also known as Lago Celestial Las Minas (Las Minas Celestial Lakes), is located approximately 30 km from the Las Tunas capital, in the east of Cuba.

This peculiar lake arose spontaneously in the middle of a natural area surrounded by forests when a group of engineers digging for kaolin perforated the surface of the ground. From there, turquoise-blue water gushed out and flooded the entire area until it became the beautiful blue lagoon that we enjoy today.

Depending on the weather and the time of day, this lake changes colour like a chameleon and also acquires green and silver tones. Its striking colour is due to the mineral richness of its waters and it is believed that bathing in them brings great benefits to the skin, to the point that some attribute healing and rejuvenating powers to it.

Surrounded by beautiful and peculiar mangrove forests, migratory birds and endangered species find refuge in this unique spot, making it a privileged environment for nature observation. You will also be able to contemplate thirteen species of flowers native and characteristic of Cuba, which almost exclusively can only be seen in this lake.

In addition to being a great attraction of the area for the beauty of its landscapes, this lake contributes to the regulation of temperatures in the region, making them milder throughout the year.
