The Museo Provincial General Vicente García (Provincial Museum of General Vicente García) is located in the historic centre of the city of Las Tunas, Cuba. It is a museum whose objective is to preserve and present the local heritage, helping foreigners and locals to discover and understand the interesting history of Las Tunas.
Located in a beautiful blue building of eclectic style, before being a museum this building was the Tambor de Voluntarios during the Wars of Independence and later it was used as the Telegraph Barracks. It was devoured by flames and was later rebuilt, functioning as the City Hall and Municipal Palace, in addition to other social uses until finally, on July 1, 1984, it was inaugurated as the Provincial Museum.
It has seven varied permanent exhibition rooms and one dedicated to temporary exhibitions. The elements that are exposed speak of the interesting Tunera history, the sciences and the culture in general.
Through a pleasant guided visit, you will have the opportunity to learn about the history of the province through interesting pieces such as old weapons, instruments of torture, photographs, decorative arts and much more.
