The Cueva de Punta del Este, located southwest of the Isla de la Juventud in Cuba, is home to some of the most mysterious and amazing indigenous paintings in the Caribbean. In fact, the place has been dubbed the Sistine Chapel of Caribbean rock art. The long journey through its complex network of caves makes it an essential adventure to ignite your spirit of exploration.
The paintings, which are attributed to the ancient Ciboneye People, have mysterious concentric circles, the meaning of which remains incomprehensible to experts. It turned out to be a chance archaeological discovery at the beginning of the 20th century, when a French doctor arrived at these caves by coincidence after his boat was shipwrecked. Historians have tried to link the drawings to a sophisticated pre-Columbian lunar calendar.
