The Museo de Ciencias Naturales Tranquilino Sandalio de Noda (Tranquilino Sandalio de Noda Natural Science Museum) is located in the center of the city of Pinar del Río, in Cuba. You will be able to see one of the most iconic buildings on the whole island. It has an unmistakable aesthetic design, a mixture between the neo-gothic and the Moorish.
This architectural symbol is already the most representative image of the city. Due to its popularity, the authorities decided to turn it into a museum, and now it has several representative collections of the regional flora and fauna. You can also find all kinds of curious objects, from a cement T-rex to a stuffed baby giraffe.
The building was commissioned by the young gynaecologist Francisco Guasch Ferrer in 1909 and was completed in 1914. For this reason, it is also known by the locals as the Palacio de Guasch (Guasch Palace).
