Parque Natural El Bagá (El Bagá Natural Park) is located in the inner part of Cayo Coco (Coco Key), belonging to the municipality of Morón, in Ciego de Ávila, Cuba. It is a government initiative to balance the conservation and recovery of the environment with the lucrative tourist development of this island of Jardines del Rey.
This beautiful place is formed by different natural elements, amongst which you will be able to appreciate dense mangroves, small lakes or an infinity of paths and tracks. It is located in the vicinity of the first airport of the key.
During your stay in the park, you can book a guided tour through a circuit of approximately three hours. The guides are more than qualified to answer any questions you may have about the native species that will amaze you during your trip. Some of the exotic animals you will encounter during the tour are iguanas, hutias... and you may even come across the most fearsome land reptile in the area, the crocodile.
But without a doubt, one of the aspects that will most draw your attention to Parque Natural El Bagá is the large number of birds that fly over this rich environment. Some 130 different species live in the area, much to the delight of bird watchers.
You will also discover an interesting representation of an indigenous village, which recreates the life of the first inhabitants of the area and offers entertaining shows for tourists.
In the nearby restaurant, you can try the delicious local food, whose star dish is the rabbit cooked according to its traditional recipe.
