The Iglesia de Santa Ana (Church) is located in Trinidad, Sancti Spíritus province, Cuba. It's an important building of the 18th century which nowadays is practically in ruins, though you will be able to marvel at the surrounding perfectly preserved environment.
The building was a center of landmark for the parishioners of the area, whether Catholic or Protestant. This chapel was built in 1719, although due to the progressive growth of the population it had to be expanded in 1764. In the 19th century a sacristy and a second nave were added. This renovation was completed in 1812.
Its current façade projects the appearance of a haunted house at dusk, with its steeple covered by grass and its walled-up windows. On the other side of the Plaza Santa Ana you can still find an old Spanish prison from 1844, now converted into a tourist centr of the city.
