The Museo de Arte Colonial of Sancti Spíritus is ideal if you are looking to relive Cuba's colonial era. This incredible museum is also known as the Casa de la Cien Puertas since all windows and doors add up to a hundred. This architectural work has undergone several reforms and transformations during its history.
Today it is identified by the typical 19th century bourgeois architecture, although it was built in the 18th century. It also stands out because it was the first building in the city to have two floors, as well as for its impressive architecture in relation to the period it was built in. In short, it is a true masterpiece formed by thick and strong ceilings, French windows and internal and external patios.
Inside you can see the delicate and luxurious furniture, the precious decorative elements and the French lamps which are still in very good condition.
It was opened as a museum in 1967. It houses precious collections of bourgeois decorative elements, like porcelain and plumbing, adding up to a total of 2800 pieces in the exhibition.
