Iglesia Parroquial Mayor de Sancti Spíritus (Church), Cuba was declared a National Monument in 1977. It is located in the heart of Sancti Spíritus. The construction is deserving of admiration for its elaborate architecture, a combination of baroque and neo-Romanesque style. There is no doubt that it is one of the most historically significant constructions in the whole country, considering that one of the oldest. Its construction was completed in 1680, making it more than 300 years old.
Despite all the damage it has suffered over the years, looting, natural deterioration, wear and tear, etc., this magnificent religious structure overcomes adversity by continuing to attract all kinds of visitors.
The church has an amazing 30-meter high bell tower with spectacular gold, silver and bronze bells and an exterior clock. It is made up of a vaulted main nave and a chapel. Without a doubt, it is one of the most emblematic buildings in the city that you cannot miss.
