Enjoy a pleasant walk in the central Parque Serafín Sánchez in Sancti Spíritus, Cuba
Parque Serafín Sánchez is located in the heart of Sancti Spíritus, in the main leisure centre of this province of Cuba. It is also surrounded by the 18 most emblematic buildings of the city. In its beginnings, it was the business centre of the province, where the most wealthy, influential, and spiritual families met.
The biggest remodelling of this square was done at the beginning of the 20th century when palm trees were planted, statues were installed and the sidewalks and pavement were restored.
This square of Sancti Spíritus with more than 500 years of history was reformed again a few years ago, but the remains of the old religious buildings that were there are still preserved. Ideal for enjoying a quiet walk and getting a bite to eat in the area. Its excellent location means that it is surrounded by restaurants that serve delicious Cuban food. You will leave with a very good taste in your mouth!
The local cuisine includes vegetable-based dishes such as pisto de berenjena o calabacín (aubergine stew or zucchini) and ajoblanco (a chilled garlic soup); stronger dishes such as Migas (a stuffing) and lamb or pork stews; and sweets such as rosquillas or desserts with white wine and honey.
