As a tribute to the country's independence and to the fallen, the Arco de Triunfo in Cienfuegos, Cuba, is standing. It is a singular architectural work in the whole country, being an element of important historical and cultural value.
The construction of the Arco de Triunfo in Cienfuegos was very peculiar and this is what characterizes it. It was erected by Cienfuegos' workers voluntarily, giving even more value to its meaning, honoring the thousands of Cubans who fought for their freedom, and so it is also known as the Arco de los Obreros (Workers' Arch). It was finally inaugurated in 1902 and its design is attributed to the architect Antonio Ferrer.
At the monument you will find three different flags: Cuba's flag, symbol of freedom; Cienfuegos' flag, symbol of the city where it is located; and the workers' flag. In addition, next to the Arco de Triunfo, located in the Parque José Martí, many memorials to the Cuban struggles have taken place, in order not to lose the important historical memory of the country.
