The splendid Jardín Botánico de Cienfuegos is one of the largest and most important gardens on the island of Cuba with its 97 hectares. In its interior it contains enormous collections of tropical and subtropical plants, and more than 2,000 different plant species.
Founded in 1901, the Jardín Botánico de Cienfuegos is the oldest and most important botanical garden in the country. It is considered one of the best in the world for its exquisite natural wealth, among which there are also endangered specimens, allowing their study and conservation.
With over 2,000 fascinating plant species, the Jardín Botánico was declared a National Monument in 1989 and in 2005 was awarded the National Conservation Prize.
Among the magnificent tropical collections that you will find inside, the bamboo collection stands out, with up to 23 different types. You can also find 65 types of fig trees, 200 types of cactus and up to 280 varieties of palms, among which is the special palm-alcornoque.
