The Museo Histórico Naval Nacional is a famous museum dedicated mainly to naval history in Cienfuegos, Cuba. It's a very historically significant place, declared a National Monument in 1957.
Only one in his type in Cuba, it' s inauguration took place in 1980 and it's situated on the island of Cayo Loco belonging to Cienfuegos. This museum is made up of two buildings in the shape of horseshoe and a beautiful central patio, with a beautiful eclectic style and slight renaissance influence.
In the Museo Histórico Naval Nacional you will find spaces dedicated to the navy's history.You will learn about stories like pirate and corsair raids and some important sea battles. You will also be able to see contemporary art works connected to marine themes, as well as replicas of parts of ships and ancient navigation elements.
Its historical value is also due to considerable revolutionary events in Cuba. In fact, it was here that the popular sailor and civilian uprising against Batista's government took place in 1957. Inside you will also find a monument to the fallen heroes of September 5th.
