The spectacular Paseo del Prado is located in the historic center of Cienfuegos, Cuba. A very popular walk among both Cienfuegos residents and tourists, it stretches up to 2 km from the Río El Inglés to Punta Gorda.
The Paseo del Prado represents an immensely important historical and cultural area. Throughout its history it has received various names, such as Paseo de Isabel II, after the Spanish queen, or Paseo de la Independencia; but in 1913 it was given its current name. It was designed by renowned architects, Julián and Carlos Rafael Sanz and Isaac Puga.
Throughout your tour you will find buildings of exceptional architecture, such as La Casa de los Leones, protected by two iron lions, the Biblioteca Provincial (Provincial Library) or the Iglesia Bautista (Baptist Church). There are also endless neoclassical-style avenues decorated with wide and ostentatious doorways and balconies.
In spite of being an avenue with a long history, the Paseo del Prado has an exceptional urban and quiet atmosphere.
Continuing south you will find the Malecón of Cienfuegos, a promenade with surprising views of the sea.
