The Boca de Yumurí is an idyllic spot near Baracoa accessible through a good road which provides you with awesome views whether you go by bike or by car. It is the quintessential place to enjoy the day, join the nature and escape from the constant racket. We are talking about an astonishing river with natural pools and lush vegetation which make up its environment. It gets you closer to mother nature whilst you enjoy birds singing.
The name “La Boca de Yumurí” is used to indicate the mouth of Yumurí River whose name comes from the last words of indigenous people: “I will die”, when they jumped into the void to avoid getting arrested by the Spanish. Have a walk next to the river all the way to Almendra Island or have a closer look at the Mangalito Beach to top off your visit.
Another point worth mentioning is the Túnel o Paso de los Alemanes (Germans’ Tunnel or Way) denominated like that, as a German man used to charge passing people in the olden days. Its significance stems from a splendid arch when it comes to vegetation, a lovely place for an excellent memento picture.
