The Museo de Música Alejandro García Caturla (Alejandro García Caturla Music Museum) is located in the city of Remedios, which can be found in the province of Villa Clara, Cuba. The museum is housed in the same home where the famous composer and judge, García Caturla, was born and raised. In 1940 the celebrated island musician was murdered.
The music museum opened its doors in 1975 offering only a few historical collections, instruments, scores, photographs, and other publications of the author. In 2007, the museum reopened its doors, this time as a music museum. The museum is home to three-set rooms, five permanent exhibitions, and one room dedicated to temporary collections. The rooms contain personal objects, photos, documents from the composer himself, and rich collections of rare and peculiar instruments.
Visitors can spot the museum in the Plaza Martí between the historic churches of San Juan Bautista and the Nuestra Señora del Buen Viaje.
And make sure to catch a concert inside this impressive museum.
