The Museo Municipal Francisco Javier Balmaseda (Francisco Javier Balmaseda Municipal Museum) is located in the Remedios, a city in Villa Clara, Cuba. This institution was founded in 1933 with the intention of spreading the story of the town and region’s history. It was the first museum established in Villa Clara and the fifth museum to be opened on the island.
The museum houses 9 permanent exhibitions, which contain exquisite collections of objects spanning 500 years of the history’s island. The collection includes statues dedicated to people from the area, objects from the era of colonization and the wars for independence, as well as items from the end of the Cuban Revolution in 1959. It also has a temporary room that usually changes its exhibition every two months
The Museo Municipal Francisco Javier Balmaseda carries great cultural value for the city of Remedios. The museum organizes lectures, debates, and other activities for the young people of Villa Clara.
