The Calle de los Cines (Cinemas Street), which begins in the Plaza de la Solidaridad and ends in the Plaza de los Trabajadores, was inaugurated in Camagüey on the day the city celebrated its fifth centenary. It is a gateway to the world of cinema, a unique thematic walk in Cuba.
This walk was already known in the past for the multitude of theatres it had, but it fell into disarray. It was the celebration of this anniversary that gave them a new image and the fresh and renewed personality they needed while preserving their old essence.
It has above all two excellent cinemas, which stand out from the rest. These are the Multicine Casablanca and the Salas Nuevo Mundo and are always attended by the most enthusiastic of the seventh art. These have air-conditioned rooms and careful decoration. It is worth mentioning the impressive gallery dedicated to the three-dimensional cinema at the Casablanca Multicine, always full of visitors.
It is essential to visit other types of shops, which are not movie theatres as such, but are related to this theme so as not to lose the essence of the street. This is the case of Bar Casablanca, inspired by Rick's Café, from the film Casablanca. Another highly recommendable place is La Isabella, a themed restaurant with decor and atmosphere typical of a film set, where you can eat at the same height from which many artists have directed their films.
