The city of Nuevitas is located 87 km northwest of Camagüey, Cuba. It is an industrial, agricultural and fishing city, with an important tradition in exporting sugar, easily accessible from the coast.
The main point of interest in the city is the Museo Histórico Municipal (Municipal Historical Museum), located in the centre, whose main objective is both to preserve and to spread the cultural values of the town. The museum exhibits a curious mixture of stuffed animals and sepia colour photographs. High staircases also allow visitors to enjoy amazing views of the bay, as opposed to the industry.
Another remarkable fact is that the film was shot here “Una mujer, un hombre, una ciudad” (Woman, Man, City) by Cuban director Manuel Octavio Gómez, in 1978.
