The interesting Casa Natal de Carlos J. Finlay Barrés (birthplace of Carlos J. Finlay Barrés) was built in the 18th century in Camagüey, Cuba. On December 3, 1833, the doctor and scientist for whom the house is named after, came to the world. He was known for discovering the agent that transmits yellow fever. The house has served as a museum since 2002.
There is evidence that proves his birth in this small property, including his birth certificate, as well as exhaustive complementary studies. This house, unique for its historical and architectural values, has only one floor and is characterized by a simple and wide facade.
Experts confirm features of 16th and 17th-century architecture of a Moorish-Mudejar style and 18th-century architecture of a Baroque Creole style, which make it a unique building.
