The Casa Natal de Carlos Manuel de Céspedes (Birthhouse of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes) is a historical museum located near Plaza de la Revolución, the first free square in Cuba, right in the city centre of Bayamo. Declared a Monumento Nacional (National Monument) in 1978 and being one of the oldest constructions in the country it was among the few buildings to have survived the quema de Bayamo.

Although the clear protagonist is Céspedes, the history of Bayamo is present since its foundation, going through the most important events that took place in the city, till the death of the pro-independence leader.
On the top floor you will find three more halls recreating the daily life of an affluent Bayamese family, like his, during the 18th and the 19th centuries. On this floor furniture if the era and family’s personal objects are being exhibited.
Without a doubt it is one if the main city’s attractions, as, apart from the beautiful architecture outside, its walls show you real and honest furniture.
