This building, a historical barracks of Manuel de Céspedes, turned into the Ñico López Museum in 1978. Located in the municipality of Bayamo in Cuba, is one of the areas that tourists find very intriguing, a fact that contributed to a special mention achieved in April 2019.
The museum’s name comes from Antonio (Ñico) López Fernández, one of the 25 men who had the courage to attack the barracks in search of freedom of the nation on 26th of July 1953. In spite of his admirably brave acts, without a doubt he stands out for his flight to Guatemala in 1954 and subsequently for friendship with Che Guevara.
This museum has objects and writings of crucial significance for the history of Cuba proving the historic event that occurred there. The place owns an unbelievable piece of the country’s history for the hundreds of thousands of visitors who dive into its culture.
The various extra activities at the museum are important as well, such as graduation ceremonies, school parties or gymnastics sessions to serve the people of Bayamo.
