The Parque Chapuzón (Chapuzón Park) is located in the San Juan del Cristo neighbourhood very close to the centre of Bayamo whose surroundings you will find many hotels. This park is a place of passage for many hikers as well as a meeting point for locals. A very peaceful place and it is advisable to go on Sundays, which is the busiest day.
It is characterised by the sheer number of kiosks where you may purchase traditional local products.
Try out the exotic gastronomy that Bayamo is offering you as one of the amazing experiences you will go through in this country. We highlight the tasty roasted pork meat; the yummy pan de cachete; the delicious congrí, rice known as the name of Moors and Christian as well; the flavoursome yuca con mojo, crushed garlic, lemon juice, salt and sauté; the traditional ropa vieja, also of Canarian inspiration; and the mouth-watering tamal en hoja, of tender ground corn accompanied by onion, pepper, garlic, etc.
The typical Cuban sweets are the egg pudding and the fresh tropical fruits, such as the coconut, the papaya or the guava. We must not forget the authentic Cuban coffee of strong taste sweetened with sugar cane.
The big river running through this park is also extremely famous and locals make the most of it. Indulge in a swim after an extraordinarily tasty meal at one of the stalls.
