The Fábrica de Órganos (Pipe Organ Factory) of Holguín is the only mechanical workshop in the whole of Cuba that keeps making these instruments in a traditional way. The organ is an instrument of great tradition in the entire eastern area of the island and specially in the Holguín area it has great sentimental value.
The factory produces around six units of this original instrument as well as other instruments, such as guitars. A good pipe organ could cost between 10,000 and 25,000 dollars. It is no wonder if we keep in mind the dedication to it to the tiniest details.
The city bears great tradition and devotion towards pipe organ being one of the few professionals who once in a while delight Holguín pedestrians with popular songs that go perfect with the splendour of the streets and buildings.
