The Salto del Guayabo (Guayabo Falls) is the main attraction in Parque Nacional de la Mensura (La Mensura National Park) located in the province of Holguín, Cuba. 15 km from the Villa Pinares de Mayarí, is considered as the biggest waterfall in the whole country.
The crystal-clear waters of Río Guayabo (Guayabo River), 546 metres above sea-level, flow loudly in two vertical falls, the first a fall of 85 and the second of 127 metres. The waterfall has two paths as well, the first takes you all the way to the waterfall top and the other one to the point where the two falls meet.
The place, apart from offering you an astonishing view towards the waterfall, is improved by its surroundings. Large variety of flora and fauna, among which we emphasise the range of ferns, flowers, trees and shrubs that the birds like the ruiseñor (nightingale), the carpintero (woodpecker) or the gavilán colilargo (Gundlach’s hawk).
