The Mirador de Mayabe (Mayabe Viewpoint) is one of the heavenly places in the Holguín area where you may admire splendid views of the true leafy nature of Cuba. It is a natural balcony located on the hill that overlooks Valle de Mayabe (Mayabe Valley), a natural spot full of leafy vegetation: gorgeous scenery.
In spite of these views being an indescribable splendour of life, a lovely creature called Pancho might shake the protagonism. In 1980, a donkey found in a restaurant located at this viewpoint 10 kilometres from the city of Holguín became famous. What made this animal special was its taste towards beer. This beer-drinking donkey turned into a local star and although it passed away a long time ago, a grandchild called Pancho III has taken his place.
This lovely place is worth visiting whilst you explore in Holguín either for getting to know Pancho or admiring the idyllic scenery of Mayabe Valley. There you will find services like a restaurant, a lovely hotel for honey moons and a traditional farm where you can get closer to the Cuban rural life.
