The Criadero de cocodrilos (Crocodile Farm), located in the Laguna del Tesoro, in the heart of the Ciénaga de Zapata, in the south of the province of Matanzas; is a vital place of importance for the natural heritage of Cuba since it preserves crocodile life
It's the second largest crocodile farm in the world with more than 10,000 specimens. Two species of crocodile and caiman are no longer in danger of extinction thanks in part of this farm. The animals are classified by size and age and so it is possible to make a tour of the different phases of breeding.
Thanks to the work of this centre, it is not necessary to go to the breeding ground to see crocodiles. In the surroundings of the Boca de Guamá it is possible to find young crocodiles feeding in the banks.
