The Cueva de los Peces (fish cave)is a magnificent place for nature and sea lovers. It is located 18 km from playa Girón, in the south of the province of Matanzas, in the Península de Zapata, known for being one of the most important habitats in Cuba.
For many this cave’s "cenotes" are considered to be the most beautiful of Cuba. It is a natural deposit of enormous depth, so much so that the center of the pool is so dark that it prevents one from seeing the bottom. It connects with the Caribbean Sea and is surrounded by extensive vegetation. The visitors take advantage to come to bathe in its calm waters and to enjoy the cosy landscape.
Both the Cueva de los Peces and the small beach with turquoise waters located in front of it are great places to practice water sports such as scuba diving and snorkeling since the marine fauna is especially beautiful in this place.
