The Estadio Palmar de Junco (Palmar de Junco Stadium) in Matanzas, is a historical baseball stadium in Cuba because it is the oldest stadium in the world still in use. Since its first official game in 1874, this stadium has hosted numerous sporting events and today, although the latest Victoria de Girón Stadium hosts the most important games, Palmar de Junco is still used for practising the important Cuban sport.
The stadium is restored and is one of those venues of great sentimental value for baseball lovers, having hosted iconic games and the best players in the history of the country. In addition, it currently serves as the headquarters of the Provincial Baseball Academy, forming new baseball idols.
Here, games are played with a special emotion, which creates the atmosphere that only a stadium of almost 150 years can provide.
