The Iglesia de Santa Elvira (Santa Elvira Church) is one of the non-tourist attractions in the Cuban city of Varadero. It is in the urban nucleus, next to the Parque Central y Parque de las 8000 taquillas (Central Park and Park of the 8000 Lockers). Thanks to this strategic location it is the most visited of the zone.
In spite of being a relatively modern church, it was built in 1938, it's a traditional temple that stands out for its simplicity. The structure is mainly composed of stone and wood, it's rather small, which makes it a very welcoming place for visitors and faithful. The interior contrasts with the facade due to the number of elements that adorn it, like a large crucifix on the altar or the mosaic on the floor.
The tower that stands in the middle of the church as a bell tower and the cross placed on top makes the monument stand out from the other buildings in the city. The tower serves as an attraction for those who want to visit the temple and the small garden around it.
