In Museo Municipal de Varadero (Municipal Museum of Varadero) you can find different kinds of pieces from this area of the Cuban island. It's located in a bungalow style house near the urban centre and beachfront that belonged to the engineer Leopoldo Abreu during the 1920s.
In 1981 the old holiday home opened its doors as a museum collecting collections of diverse subjects, such as history, natural sciences, numismatics, archaeology, decorative arts... dated mostly in the first half of the 20th century.
The exhibition is divided into four rooms: Sala de Historia Local (Local History Room), Sala de Artes Decorativas (Decorative Arts Room), Sala de Ciencia (Science Room) and Sala de Historia del Deporte (Sports History Room). In these rooms, you can take a look at the history of the area, learn about old archaeological pieces and discover some of the most recent landmarks that have marked the presence of Varadero.
