The Cuartel Moncada, located in the city of Santiago de Cuba, acted as a fort and meeting place for the absolutist Fulgencio Batista and his men. A space, without a doubt, very moving that symbolizes a before and after in Cuba.
The disagreement with the current regime started in 1952 by Fulgencio Batista was palpable from the moment he came to power, and it was Fidel Castro along with his brother who decided to put an end to it. Political differences have caused thousands of people to die since time immemorial, and in this case it was not going to be less, since both members of the army and neighbors who were celebrating the carnival on July 26, 1953, died that day.
Music and dance witnessed a turning point in the country, although fortunately, those deaths were not in vain. Although the plan failed first, the desire to forge a better future for Cuba in which justice and good government went hand in hand motivated them to pursue another tactic later that would make them winners.
Due to its historical importance, on July 26 of each year this event is remembered so much today in the minds of the people of Santiago in one of the Cuban provinces. Find out what year it is in Santiago de Cuba or its surroundings and do not miss the emotional act, as well as the museum founded in the barracks itself, which is open every day of the year.
