The Silver Museum, located 5 kilometers west of Las Cuevas on the border of the provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Granma in Cuba, is an exhibition that recounts the events that occurred in the Silver combat, the first successful battle of the Rebel Army against the Fulgencio Batista regime.
This event occurred on January 17, 1957 in the same place where the museum stands, led by Commander Fidel Castro Ruz and many of the essential figures of the movement such as his brother Raúl Castro and Che Guevara. This contest was of vital importance for the course of the struggle as it was the first offensive attack against the Batista army that would reveal to the people the existence of the guerrillas and the real possibilities of overthrowing the existing regime.
The museum inaugurated in 1938 houses a multitude of photographs and objects that testify to this historical landmark of Cuba. It is an especially interesting place to visit to learn about the beginnings of the Revolution that has led the country up to the present time.
