The Museo de la Lucha Clandestina in Santiago de Cuba collects the most important facts of the events that marked the last stage of the war between the Rebel Army and the Fulgencio Batista regime in Cuba and especially in this region.
The museum is located in an old house on the loma del Intendente, in the El Tívoli neighborhood. The baroque-style building is a beautiful building that stands out for its wooden railing and balconies and its interior, which houses the four rooms that tell this story.
A panel with photos of Frank País and Celia Sánchez and a letter signed by Fidel Castro and the Rebel Army in which the role of these two figures in the revolutionary struggle is recognized begins the journey that recounts the events of this struggle. The first room tells of the population's rejection of Batista's coup as well as the action of Frank País, including the events that take place from the assault on the Moncada Barracks in 1953 until the armed uprising 3 years later. In the second room, the events of the landing of the Granma Yacht are related to the demonstration of mothers for the murder of young revolutionaries. In the following you will find the political thought of Frank País until his assassination and finally, the role of René Ramos Latour, substitute for País, and triumph of the movement.
The exhibition has invaluable pieces that testify to the events narrated, such as weapons, clothing and real documents in which of special mention are those that pay tribute to the incredible value of women in this fight, something that configures this museum as a place of special value for the Cuban people.
