National Museum of Land Transport, Santiago de Cuba

Visit the surprising National Museum of Land Transportation in Santiago de Cuba that pleases all audiences

The National Museum of Land Transportation is a unique gallery in Cuba that you can find in Baconao Park in Santiago de Cuba, the dream of car lovers and a visit that you will undoubtedly like.

The museum has almost 2,000 square meters in which more than 2,700 miniature and 44 life-size vehicles are exhibited. Among them we can find cars from all ages, from different parts of the world, unique models and some driven by very important figures in the future of humanity. Many of the pieces on display are a donation from Fermín Hernández Hurtado, a Spanish communist militant.

In the collection we can find an evolution of the automobile that goes from the invention of the wheel in prehistoric times to the latest models with all kinds of services. Along the way of this progress, you will be amazed to find the carts used by the Greeks to build the Parthenon, Eskimo sleds, vehicles with steam engines, and the invention of the rubber wheel and spark plugs. You can also learn the particular history of the cars used by the Red Cross and the fire department.

Of other cars, what was most disturbing about them was who owned them or who traveled inside. This is the case of the replicas of vehicles of Lenin, the Japanese emperor Hirohito, Adolf Hitler, Stalin and the typical car that he drove in his Charles Chaplin films.

In the same way, there are others that stand out for their context. These are the cars used in the assault on the Moncada Barracks in 1953, a 1957 Golden Cadillac of which there are only 200 units on the planet and three impressive limousines that have had the privilege of transporting important personalities who have visited the island, among many others.

You will love this entire collection if you are a faithful lover of the automotive industry, but if this is not the case, the exhibition will not leave you indifferent either. It is a museum that surprises and likes and you cannot leave without signing the guest book, a long tradition.
