José Lezama Lima was a Cuban writer known internationally for his work Paradiso, published in 1966. He is considered one of the greatest figures of Hispanic American literature and a model for many other writers. He lived in Centro Habana for 47 years in a three-story house with a terrace, today is now a museum dedicated to his life and work.
The museum was inaugurated in 1994 after a complete restoration process. The different exhibitions show the writer's personal objects, which are displayed around the house just as they were during his life.
A visit to the museum house allows visitors to enter the same rooms where popular literary gatherings were held and frequented by writers and artists such as Juan Ramón Jiménez, Eliseo Diego and María Zambrano, among others.
In 2010 it was also declared a National Monument.
