The Museo de los Bomberos (Firefighters Museum) is located on the famous museum street known as Calle Mercaderes (Mercaderes Street). The museum was built on the same site that the Fuego en la ferretería Isasi (Issi Hardware Store Fire) took place in 1890. The museum pays homage to those who lost their lives in the infamous fire and those dedicated to the profession that helps avoid these tragedies, firefighters.
Visitors can recognize the building by its elegant facades, large archway, and sign above the entryway that reads “Cuartel de Bomberos,” which means “Firefighter’s quarters.” Once inside, visitors come across a memorial for those who were killed in the fire. The museum also features a collection of showcases full of firefighter suits, helmets, badges, equipment, and uniforms. And you can't miss the steam powered Trolley, which was once horse-powered.
