The Casa del Ché Cultural Center (Centro Cultural Casa del Ché) in La Cabaña is one of the main attraction at the Militar Morro-Cabaña Historic Park (Parque Histórico Militar Morro-Cabaña) in Havana. The house, where Che Guevara once lived in 1959, was restored in 2006. Shortly after, it was inaugurated as a museum and cultural center.
Che Guevara moved to the house during the Cuban Revolution, after Fidel Castro ordered him to go to Santa Clara and occupy the area of La Cabaña. He lived in the house for a few months, during which he assumed a strong command of the area. This home was witness to more than a few meetings and arguments of the Revolution.
The house-turned-museum exhibits photographs of those who passed through the home such as Fidel Castro, Alberto Castellanos (Che’s bodyguard), Olo Pantoja (a member of the guerrilla) and Ramiro Valdés (a commander of the Revolution). Other featured areas of the house include the chess room, the reading room, Che’s bedroom, and the room about yerba mate tea, Che’s favourite drink. With entry, visitors also have access to a dining area and gift shop.
