The Monument to Máximo Gómez is a group of memorial sculptures located in Centro Habana in front of the famous Malecón of Havana. It is dedicated to General Máximo Gómez, head of the Cuban independence army that fought for Cuban independence during the conflicts of 1868 and 1895 against the Spaniards.
The monument is a pyramid-shaped composition in which the colour contrast of the white marble of the base and the black bronze of the horse figure stand out. In accordance with the classical inspiration, the figures depicted, with the exception of Máximo Gómez, wear Greek tunics. General Máximo Gómez is represented riding a horse dressed in army uniform gazing at the horizon defiantly.
