The Teatro Nacional de Cuba (National Theater of Cuba) is one of the most popular places in the Vedado neighbourhood of Havana. The theatre is overflowing with Cuban Culture: plastic arts, theatre, music, and dance are just a few of its many residents.
Construction on the theatre began in 1952 and was officially inaugurated in1979. With the capacity to accommodate up to 3,000 people, the theatre is one of the largest in the country. The Teatro Nacional of Cuba is emblematic of the country’s salsa and jazz culture and promises a breathtaking view of Havana.
Enjoy a show on the stages of the Avellaneda and Covarrubias concert rooms or head downstairs to the National Theater’s underground club, Cafe Cantante, where you can enjoy a live concert.
If you are looking for something on higher ground, head to the top floor of the Teatro Nacional where you can settle in for a night of jazz and salsa over a panoramic view of the city at the Delirio Habanero pub.
If you want to leave with a piece of the theatre yourself, visit the René Portocarrero Art Gallery or the Avellaneda Art Gallery to see which national paintings are up for sale.
