The Museo Nacional de Historia Natural de Cuba (Cuban Museum of Natural History) is located in the Plaza de Armas (Main Square) of Old Havana. The scientific and cultural institution is inside a building filled with large crystal windows. It is a great spot to visit different collections dedicated to the natural sciences.
The museum was inaugurated in 1964 and aimed to promote the sciences, its knowledge, and information within the community. The collections, conservation, investigation and exhibition of natural objects held in the museum are a great way to promote the museum's goals. Moreover, its collections of minerals, rocks, fossils, plants, and animals are considered part of the nation’s patrimony.
Visitors can also make use of the museum’s children’s room, video room and library with over 3,000 titles. The library was named after zoologist Miguel Luis Jaume.
