Finca Vigía was Ernest Hemingway's residence during his time in Cuba. It is located on the outskirts of Havana, in a quiet village in the municipality of San Miguel del Padrón. The farm is preserved in the same state in which the famous Nobel Prize winner left it back in 1960 and today it also serves as a cultural museum and a centre for educational activities.

The construction of the estate dates back to many years before Ernest Hemingway's appearance as owner. It began in the late 19th century when a Catalan architect acquired the land to create a home for his family to live in. He built it spacious and airy. After the architect, the house belonged to several people until it began to be rented, and Ernest Hemingway's wife suggested that he buy it and move out of the hotel where they were staying.

At Finca Vigía he wrote newspaper articles and works such as Al otro lado del río y entre los árboles or El viejo y el mar. It was the writer's most notable residence, but he had to leave it when he fell ill. He was hospitalized in the United States in 1960, where he finally died.

His wife fulfilled the writer's last wish by donating the house and other personal belongings to the Cuban government. Today, converted into a museum for the cultural enjoyment of visitors, it offers a visit to the different parts of the estate that stands out for its large dimensions, for the exuberant vegetation that spreads throughout the property and for the decoration of its rooms and halls.
