The Museo de Naipes de La Habana is a must-see museum if you enjoy the classic passtime of playing cards. The museum is the oldest building in the Plaza Vieja (Old Town Square), one of the four principal plazas of Old Havana.
The museum was the result of the collaboration between the Oficina del Historiador de la Ciudad (City Historian’s Office), which focuses on conserving Old Havana’s heritage, and the Fundación Diego Sagredo de España (Diego Sagredo Foundation of Spain), which supports culture and architecture. On May 2nd, 2001 the Museo de Naipes de la Habana was officially opened to the public.
Postcards, engravings, and movie posters are just a taste of the few items you can find inside the museum. And you can't miss the main collection, which exhibits cards of all kinds: tarot, historical, and artistic.
