The Museo del Tabaco (Tobacco Museum) is one of the many free museums located on Calle Mercaderes (Mercaderes Street) in Old Havana. The museum, like many others, is located inside an old colonial house that once belonged to a family, but was eventually abandoned. Eventually, the Oficina del Historiador de la Ciudad (City Historian’s Office) restored the house and transformed it into a museum. The Museo del Tabaco is the only museum of its kind in all of Cuba.
The museum aims to educate visitors about the history of the tobacco industry. It houses a number of collections dedicated to the product and features instruments for processing tobacco leaves, such as pipes, lighters, lithographic stones, and the labels of well-known cigar brands. The Museo del Tabaco also features three exhibition halls: two foyers and the Casa Del Habano, which is one of the best cigar marketing organizations.
You cannot wrap up your visit to Havana without stopping by the museum that best conveys the image of the traditional Cuban cigar.
